Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Chislehurst

This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Man with Van Chislehurst to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. As a provider of local and regional transport, removals and related services, we recognise our responsibility to identify, mitigate and address the risk of exploitation associated with our business activities.

Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy

Man with Van Chislehurst has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in any form. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing systems and controls that seek to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.

We expect the same high standards from all of our suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and business partners. Any individual or organisation found to be involved in modern slavery in connection with our business will face immediate review of the relationship, which may result in termination of contracts and, where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Our core services include small removals, man and van services, local deliveries and associated logistics activities. Our supply chains primarily involve vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and occasional subcontracted drivers or transport providers.

We recognise that some areas of the transport and logistics sector can be vulnerable to labour exploitation, especially where temporary or subcontracted labour is used. We therefore actively seek to identify and reduce these risks within our operations and supply base.

Due Diligence and Supplier Audits

We conduct proportionate due diligence on suppliers and business partners before entering into new contracts and on a periodic basis thereafter. As part of this process, we assess the supplier's approach to labour standards, working conditions and compliance with applicable laws relating to modern slavery and human rights.

Where we identify higher-risk relationships, such as subcontracted driving or warehousing services, we may undertake more detailed reviews. This can include requesting evidence of right-to-work checks, employment contracts, wage records and working time arrangements, as well as clarifying the use of agencies or intermediaries.

We reserve the right to conduct audits or inspections of suppliers where we consider it appropriate. Failure by a supplier to adequately address modern slavery risks, or refusal to cooperate with reasonable audit requests, may lead to corrective action, suspension or termination of the business relationship.

Policies, Training and Reporting Channels

Our commitment to preventing modern slavery is supported by internal policies on ethical conduct, recruitment, equality, health and safety, and whistleblowing. These policies are communicated to all relevant staff and are designed to promote fair treatment, transparent working conditions and a culture where concerns can be raised safely.

Employees, contractors and suppliers are encouraged to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business. Reports can be made to management or through established internal reporting routes without fear of retaliation. We take all concerns seriously, investigate them promptly and, where necessary, take appropriate remedial and disciplinary action.

Training and awareness are provided to key personnel involved in recruitment, supplier management and operations, so they can recognise indicators of modern slavery and know how to respond. We review and update our training content as our understanding of risks evolves.

Risk Assessment, Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

We regularly assess the nature and extent of our exposure to the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chains. This includes considering geographic risks, the use of subcontractors, the types of services provided and the level of worker vulnerability within those activities.

Where risks are identified, we seek to strengthen our controls by improving contractual terms, enhancing due diligence, clarifying labour standards expectations with suppliers and, where appropriate, consolidating suppliers to those that demonstrate stronger compliance cultures. We maintain records of identified issues and the actions taken to address them.

Annual Review and Approval

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with legal requirements and good practice. As part of the review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our measures, consider any incidents or concerns raised, and assess opportunities for further improvement.

The updated statement is approved by the leadership of Man with Van Chislehurst and made available to employees, suppliers and other stakeholders. We remain committed to continually improving our approach to identifying and managing modern slavery risks and to working collaboratively with our partners to promote ethical, transparent and responsible business practices throughout our operations.
